This is going to be a "blah" type of response, but I can't think of a really good one at the moment.
Weapons used for each build should be max damage and have the requirements that you will have max attribute in.
Ie: you won't have a max smite attribute and max protection attribute, then go use a weapons that requires lv 13 divine favor.
I'm usually a healer, so I have Yakslapper (divine favor I think of 12), a green rod (I don't know the name) Divine Favor lv 13 + healing anhk +10 energy. +1 to healing prayers (x% chance) lv 12 healing prayers.
I think I have 2 or 3 greens, 2 golds weapons, 1 purple weapon, 2 gold off hand items, 1 purple off-hand item.
My Monk is one of my weapons people.

Dralspire > customizing a perfect +15/-5 Crystalline sword for a Monk made me go: O_o zomg wow insane and drop on the floor in convulsions x_X was that a misclick at a weaponsmith?
the OP is interested in pve equipment for his monk, where he doesnt need all that much energy management and hiding.
For 55ing most popular weapons are Flame Spitter of Enchanting or the new Totem Axe
For healing i generally prefer faster cast mod than recharge - the wand from crafter at Bukdek Byway is nice.
For most other uses recharge is better, here the endgame greens are very nice both wands and foci.
And always have at least 1 emergency swap slot with a +15/-1/+30 focus (collectors or green, there are lots of them)
Im not focusing on pvp here as its completely different
